Colgate’s Career Services is highly dynamic, ambitious, and robust. In the fiscal year 2019-2020, our staff interacted with 84% of Colgate students and over 1000 alumni and parent volunteers. 98% of the Class of 2019 secured employment, graduate/professional school admission, or a fellowship/scholarship (90% response rate). In the previous academic year career services engaged 200 formal recruiting partners that will provide internship and entry-level job opportunities for Colgate students.
Under the division of the Dean of the College, CCS has realized significant institutional support in pursuit of this vision.

Accountabilities

Accountable to execute internship and job development to meet identified and aspirational goals in Career Services’ strategic plan. Role focused on partnering with alumni, parents, and employers to develop diverse internship and employment opportunities, as well as to facilitate Career Services’ off-campus consortium recruiting and internship initiatives.

Responsible to identify and independently source new target employers that represent the geographic and industry interests of Colgate students. Without oversight, accountable to develop effective and productive relationships with new employers that result in recruiting relationships. Accountable for increasing the number and satisfaction of employer representatives who visit campus or are engaged in recruitment efforts. Responsible for sustained, longitudinal employer retention. Responsible for the high level of employer satisfaction in working with Colgate to recruit and employ students and graduates. Ensures accurate and timely capture of employer feedback. Accountable to maintain productive recruiting relationships with existing employers to sustain, broaden, and/or deepen their engagement with students.

Responsible to oversee formal internship recruiting and consortium programs (i.e.: Summer on the Cuyahoga, Career and Internship Connections) as sole Colgate representative. Accountable to independently advocate for Colgate students’ needs and interests. On a rotational basis, oversee management of off-campus consortia events, including administrative responsibilities to coordinate partners, organize event logistics, and leading colleagues in employer development and marketing efforts.

Responsible for effective supervision of one or more student interns.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority ( CSA ), in accordance with the federal statutory requirements of the Jeanne Clery Act. CSAs are required to and responsible for reporting allegations of crimes they receive from students and employees to the Campus Safety Department.

Professional Experience/ Qualifications

- Must have a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability to set priorities and take initiative.
- Must demonstrate an aptitude for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously with an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Must have demonstrated abilities to synthesize ideas and opportunities brought forth by stakeholders to produce results.
- Must demonstrate a solid comfort level with social media, including LinkedIn.
- Must be able to articulate a passion for the advantages of a liberal arts degree and market the university to potential new employers.
- Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of parents, alumni, employers, faculty, staff, and students within a university context.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% annually.

Preferred Qualifications

- One or more years of career services, recruitment or sales experience is preferred.
- Prior experience working with alumni and parents to develop internship and job leads is preferred.
- Prior experience working with college students.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
