 The University of Georgia Libraries seeks an experienced and innovative librarian to serve as the Head of Acquisitions and Serials Services. The Head is responsible for all operations and services of the Acquisitions and Serials Services department, which oversees the order, receipt, and payment for resources acquired for the Libraries’ collections. The Head provides successful management in planning, organizing, and implementing work by establishing goals and objectives which complement and support those of other departments in the Libraries.    

This position manages the Libraries’ materials budget, ensuring efficient and cost-effective workflows for ordering, invoicing, receiving, claiming, and expending budgeted funds. This position manages vendor relations and facilitates access to electronic subscriptions.   

The UGA Libraries uses Ex Libris Alma ILS and EBSCO subscription and discovery services. GOBI, a subsidiary of EBSCO, is used to acquire the majority of books along with other domestic and international vendor systems. The UGA Libraries is transitioning to use OpenAthens for authentication of electronic resources.   

The Head reports to the University Librarian and Associate Provost and manages the work of one faculty librarian, nine support staff, and student workers.   

The UGA Libraries is located on the university's main campus in Athens, Georgia, and its facilities include the Main Library, Science Library, Zell B. Miller Learning Center, Map and Government Information Library, Repository, Special Collections Libraries, and the Carnegie Library.
