Tennessee Technological University’s Communication Department is seeking candidates for a 9-month, full-time, position in Public Relations and Strategic Communication. A lecturer position is non tenure-track but contract is renewable in three-year increments based on satisfactory performance. An assistant professor position is tenure-track. Candidate will teach a variety of courses in the Communication Department, especially in public relations, strategic communication, and event planning. Candidate would also fulfill duties related to academic, student media, and club advising. This person would also help monitor the curriculum areas of public relations and strategic communication and create course content where deficiencies exist. Commitment to the continued improvement of teaching using research-based practices is expected.

Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree or higher in communication, mass communication, or a related field with an emphasis in journalism; Master’s degree is required for the Lecturer position but not eligible for tenure-track; Ph.D. required in field for Assistant Professor tenure-track position. Ability to use and teach the use of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop required. Willingness to teach online is required.

Teaching experience and/or professional experience in journalism or public relations with use of social media and media analytics is preferred.

The teaching load is 4/4.  Additional responsibilities include academic advisement and committee assignments.
