Summary

The Division of Congenital Heart Surgery at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an experienced Senior Research Coordinator to support clinical trials and outcomes research in pediatric cardiovascular and congenital heart surgery. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, team-oriented individual to contribute to a growing collaborative research program within the interdisciplinary Texas Children's Heart Center.

Job Purpose

Our Senior Research Coordinator is responsible for daily operational conduct of clinical research trials and data registry studies in Congenital Heart Surgery, and provides research coordination and data management support for flagship Heart Center collaborative research programs. Working closely with CHS faculty, research and clinical staff, the Senior Research Coordinator ensures compliant execution of all study-related activities consistent with the protection of research subjects.

Job Duties
  • Screening and enrollment of study subjects.
  • Obtaining and documenting research informed consent.
  • Study visit scheduling and coordination.
  • Medical record abstraction, electronic data capture and reporting.
  • Tracking and reporting of adverse events.
  • Ordering and maintenance of study supplies/equipment.
  • Research specimen collection, processing and transport.
  • Maintenance of study regulatory binders and patient research charts.
  • Coordination of external monitoring and auditing visits.
  • Support for essential CHS Biobank activities and other research team members as needed.
  • Under direction, may assist with preparation of regulatory submissions, study budgets and contracts, grant proposals and manuscripts.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

The Senior Research Coordinator works proactively to identify and troubleshoot potential impacts to research through timely correspondence with members of the research team, sponsors and CROs, as well as regular participation in both internal and external study working group and research team meetings. Assists with identification, troubleshooting and reporting of research regulatory compliance and safety issues, with escalation to research leadership as necessary. Maintains all local, sponsor and federally mandated training requirements for participation in human subjects’ research. The ideal candidate will have experience in pediatric clinical trials and outcomes research, investigational devices, and electronic data capture and reporting. Working knowledge of clinical research regulatory compliance and record-keeping is essential.
