Job Title Assistant Professor in Psychology Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Information Tenure Track Job Description

The Department of Psychology at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Successful candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching using inclusive pedagogy and commitment to maintaining an active research program incorporating a diverse set of students. While the area of expertise is open, we are specifically interested in candidates with scholarly interests and/or teaching experience in understanding psychology through social, cross-cultural, and/or community contexts.

The Caiafa Center for Psychological Science at Providence College features flexible human lab space and state-of-the-art classroom facilities. Tenure-track faculty appointments offer competitive salaries and full benefits. Additionally, the College provides reimbursement of relocation costs, and financial support for faculty development. Faculty may also apply for a semester-long paid sabbatical to support their scholarship before tenure.

Essential Duties

Teaching responsibilities would include introductory psychology, a survey course psychology, an experimental course in social, cross-cultural, or community psychology with lab, rotation through a year-long, integrated research methods/statistics course with lab, and an advanced seminar in the candidate’s specialized area. Typical teaching load is three courses per semester with a cap of 15-25 students per class.

Education and Experience Required

Candidates should possess a terminal degree in psychology or closely related field with an emphasis on studying social/cultural foundations of behavior.
