Position Summary:

The Laboratory Manager in the Epistemic Analytics lab oversees operations and coordinates the activities of multiple, complex projects and staff. The Laboratory Manager works closely with principal investigators and senior leadership on strategic initiatives, operational planning, budget management, internal and external communications, grant proposal preparation, and research compliance. In addition, the Laboratory Manager is the primary liaison to the WCER administrative offices, other institutions, research collaborators, educators, and all other outside parties. This position thus requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, administrative officials at UW-Madison, and a broad range of national and international partners.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

1. Experience with project management, administrative coordination, or similar tasks
2. Experience working in an academic research environment
3. Experience preparing and managing budgets
4. Experience with data collection or management of research data
5. Expertise with Google and Microsoft software, including word processing programs, spreadsheets, and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams)
6. Excellent organizational and analytical skills
7. Strong interpersonal skills
8. Effective oral and written communication
9. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple, complex projects and a fluctuating workload

Additional Information:

This position may be extended or made renewable pending additional funding.
