The Lucas Lab (https://chemistry.vcu.edu/people/faculty/lucas.html) within the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a research specialist with prior experience in the synthesis of organic compounds and metallocomplexes. The principal research focus will be on the design, synthesis, and mechanistic characterization of tunable transition metal-based catalysts. Applications from enthusiastic and hardworking candidates with expertise in inorganic synthesis and air-free techniques are encouraged. The successful candidate will also be expected to independently design, execute, and analyze experiments, to contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, and to promote a collegial and rigorous laboratory environment. Periodic technical progress reports will be required. The appointment will be on an hourly wage basis, with a target average of 29 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Chemistry or related discipline.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years of demonstrated experience working in a research lab.

Must be able to work in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline.
