The School of Business at Portland State University seeks exceptional candidates for an Associate or Professor tenure track position in strategic management beginning Spring 2021. The ideal candidate should have (1) an earned doctorate in business or related field with an emphasis in strategic management or related areas from a nationally-accredited institution (advanced ABD candidates will be considered but must have doctorate by December 15, 2020); (2) evidence of a strong and innovative program of research in relevant areas of strategic management commensurate with career stage; (3) demonstration of recent teaching excellence in strategic management or related courses; (4) a strong and continuing commitment to both research and teaching; (5) experience teaching in both traditional classroom as well as online modes, and at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and (6) recent research or teaching experience related to sports contexts or topics that can contribute to the athletic and outdoor component of our Center for Retail Leadership and associated Athletic and Outdoor Industry certificate. Experience teaching at the executive education level is a plus.


The School’s active involvement with the region’s industry partners and strong entrepreneurial community provides faculty ample research opportunities. The School is AACSB-accredited, has a strong commitment to both research and teaching, and serves over 3,400 students. The School was recently ranked by the Princeton Review as “one of the best universities to major in business” and Portland State University has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report in the top 20 “most innovative” universities in the nation.
The University is dispersed over 49 acres of greenspace amidst the vibrant cultural and business center of downtown Portland.
