Randolph College seeks an energetic, self-motivated person with a passion for students and creating a supportive student life experience for a diverse student body to fill the role of Chief Diversity Officer and Director of the Office of Identity, Culture, and Inclusion. Reporting directly to the President, The CDO serves as a campus leader on issues of inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity. The director oversees an office that seeks to affirm the unique identities of people while building a community that strengthens itself from these identities and cultivates leaders who will integrate the value of human diversity to the world. Represented in the office are services and support for students of color, international students, LGBTQ+ students, and first-generation students.  The CDO advises the President on matters of issues of inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity, and serves on the President’s senior staff, collaborating with other senior administrators on special projects for the College. Since his arrival at Randolph College, President Bateman has emphasized increasing diversity on campus and providing additional support for the College's diverse study body.  He looks forward to partnering with the incumbent Chief Diversity Officer to build on that foundation. 

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Create, implement, and assess diversity and cultural initiatives and programming that are consistent with student development and cultural identity theory-based learning outcomes and promote cultural diversity, access, inclusion, awareness, and equity.
  • Advise culturally based student organizations such as Black Student Alliance and La-TinX Familia.
  • Chair the Community Advisory Committee & African American Student Experience Taskforce.
  • Advise international students on immigration as well as other issues such as financial, academic, social, adjustment to campus life and to the United States, health insurance, taxes, campus jobs, Social Security, and personal issues; including serving as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and SEVIS Coordinator, managing SEVIS reporting and compliance.
  • Work with the Office of Admission and the Office of Student Success to recruit and retain students from traditionally underrepresented communities; support recruitment of international students and ensure their smooth transition to the College.

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree required in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, cultural studies, or related field
  • Four to six years of progressive experience in Student Affairs administration, preferably in areas working with traditionally underrepresented communities
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion and multiculturalism within a complex organization
  • Ability to positively and professionally represent the College to a variety of constituents
  • An understanding and respect for a liberal arts education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
