Texas State University seeks an innovative and engaged leader to serve as its next assistant vice president for human resources. The assistant vice president serves as the chief human resources officer (CHRO) at one of the largest and most vibrant universities in America. The CHRO plays a key role in furthering the university's academic, research and service missions. Leading a team of over 25 employees, the CHRO is responsible for a wide range of activities, including, but not limited to: working directly with university senior leadership on strategic planning; developing and administering comprehensive, innovative and proactive human resources (HR) policies and procedures; championing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts; effectively communicating information regarding HR programs and initiatives; and representing the university at the state and national levels on HR matters. The CHRO reports directly to Mr. Eric Algoe, vice president for finance and support services.

The successful candidate must have at least 10 years of HR and leadership experience, preferably in a higher education or health care environment, as well as a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field. A graduate degree is preferred as is an appropriate professional certification (SHRM Senior Certified Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources).

Texas State encompasses multiple campuses and locations across central Texas, employs approximately 8,000 people, and offers its more than 38,000 students 98 bachelor’s, 91 master’s and 14 doctoral degree programs offered by the following colleges: Applied Arts, McCoy College of Business, Education, Fine Arts and Communication, Health Professions, Liberal Arts, Science and Engineering, University College and The Graduate College.
