The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for the position of Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Reporting to the University President and a member of the President’s Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Athletics will provide leadership and management for the Athletics Department including policy, athletic and academic performance, fundraising and public relations, fiscal management, coaching staff supervision, long-range planning, and adherence to all NCAA/Conference/UT System/Institutional regulations.
The successful candidate will possess a record of leadership in intercollegiate athletics that demonstrates sound decision-making and a commitment to the highest standards in integrity in all academic, financial, and business endeavors. As the Athletics Department’s principal representative, the Director will develop and maintain effective relationships with campus and UT System stake-holders, philanthropic and corporate partners, and build lasting relationships with college alumni/ae and the community. An abiding commitment to the Student-Athlete concept is essential, as is the ability to create and sustain a positive University brand.
Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant sports administration experience in positions of increasing responsibility
• Demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising and revenue generation
• Significant knowledge of and commitment to the enforcement of NCAA rules and regulations
• Ability to travel extensively to fulfill the duties of the position
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; Master’s preferred
