Coordinator of Diversity Education - Office of Diversity and Inclusion

Position Overview:

Develop, implement, and manage activities, programs, and services related to student development, student leadership programs and other campus activities. Develop and execute short and long-term plans, goals and objectives for programs to ensure alignment with University goals. Monitor and report on participation and program satisfaction and recommend improvements. Develop, implement, and authorize the expenditures of department and fee-funded group budgets. Oversee activities and budgets of student fee-funded student organizations. Oversee student employees, and volunteers. Oversee safety and compliance.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Program Development and Implementation - 65% - The coordinator develops, implements, manages and evaluates social justice and retention programming that advance campus engagement around issues of equity and inclusion efforts for underrepresented populations. - The coordinator develops, implements, manages and evaluates programming for the Women's Outreach Center (WoC), Black Student Association (BSA), National Association for the Advancement of Color People (NAACP), American Association for University Women (AAUW), and the Black Women's Initiative (BWI), which includes, but is not limited to: orientation, identity and leadership development, advocacy and community engagement, recruitment and retention. - Structures leadership and multiple identities development for multicultural organizations and initiatives. - Collaborates with community organizations and agencies to develop partnerships that engage students in advocacy work and retention. Campus & Community Outreach and Engagement – 15% - Collaborates and assists the campus community with diversity trainings and workshops. - Participates on various campus committees that address diversity. Teach First-Year Experience Seminar Course – 15%. Perform other duties as assigned – 5%


Experience Required:

Requires a bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the chosen field or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.

Experience Preferred:

Master's degree preferred and minimum of two years of related experience in higher education setting. Demonstrated experience in leading, developing, implementing, and evaluating diversity programs. Demonstrated research and analytical skills. Experience supervising. Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams, task forces, or committees. Understanding of contemporary issues in higher education, particularly those related to diversity and inclusion.


Superior planning, implementation and evaluation skills. Experience with assessment of diversity programs. Superior leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, and students in different areas and at different levels of the University. Excellent human relations skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive matters with judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
