Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The Housekeeping Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, managing, and performing housekeeping services at all Recreational Sports facilities. This position will perform a wide variety of administrative and supervisory duties in the areas of personnel management, facility and event operations, risk management, policy and procedure enforcement, and statistical data collection and reporting. This position will work nights and weekends as needed and will report to the Assistant Director for Facility Operations & Aquatics.

Minimum Hiring Standards

High School graduate or equivalent training, education, and experience.
Knowledge of housekeeping services and standards.
Experience creating and managing work schedules and inventory control.
Demonstrated experience in personnel management and staff development; ability to motivate and supervise staff.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
Ability to take initiative, problem solve and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to work nights and weekends.
Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment.

Preferred Hiring Standards

Previous housekeeping supervisory experience.
Experience maintaining various flooring surfaces, including wood, tile, polished concrete, and epoxy.
Demonstrated administrative skills in budget development and fiscal management, planning, implementing and evaluating programs, and risk management.
Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a constantly changing environment.
