The Department of Entertainment Management in the International College and the International Program on Communication Production (IPCP) in the College of Communication of Design at I-Shou University in Taiwan, ROC, invites applicants for multiple open-rank, full-time, faculty positions.

Two vacancies in TV/video/commercial film-related field, and new media for The International Program on Communication Production; Advertising, Public Relations, Big Data in Marketing and Social Media for the Department of Entertainment Management at open rank, full-time, faculty positions.

Both positions begin on February 1, 2021.

I-shou University is one of the most prominent private universities in Taiwan.  Currently, it has 17,000 students in nine colleges, ranging from science and engineering to communication, design, and medicine. The University, located in Kaohsiung City, the second-largest city in Taiwan, and a maritime city with sunny weather year-round, offers rich cultural and industrial environments to both visitors and residents.

For the position in the Department of Entertainment Management in the International College, the appointments will begin on February 1, 2021. Prospective candidates should hold a doctoral degree and demonstrate strong research/professional credentials with a firm commitment to quality undergraduate education.

Specific fields of expertise with respect to the Department of recruitment include but are not limited to the following:

 

The ideal candidate should have professional and academic experience in some combination of the following areas: public relations, digital advertising and promotions, interactive and social media promotions, digital communication strategies and tactics, and related aspects of integrated marketing communication. Candidates will be able to teach courses in Advertising, Public Relations, Social Media, Organizational Communication, and Big-data Marketing and have an interest in developing other courses in emerging media and have a commitment to the pedagogy of diverse communities and approaches. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe® Creative Cloud® and/or related software is a plus.  

Full-time faculty are expected to serve on university committees, advise students, and participate in departmental administration and curriculum development. Mostly, the candidate will bring vision and commitment to building a student experience linked to the growing job markets within which our students will work after graduation.

 

Preferred Qualifications

-       Ph.D. required in Communication or related field with professional experience. An ABD would be considered. Video and digital media experience preferred. Rank is commensurate with experience.

-       A Terminal degree in Strategic Communication is required and would mostly prefer big data in marketing and application, or digital media experience.

-       An applicant should have prior classroom experience and a strong record of professional achievement.

-       History of publications in academic or trade journals.

-       Professional experience (video, promotion, advertising, social media, etc.)

-       Established research and/or professional content. 

-       Hands-on experience and knowledge in advertisement campaign, production, and Big-data in marketing application, and/or public relationship practices is a must.

    NOTE: Teaching responsibility is a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester. Overload is compensated. Successful candidates will be expected to teach fundamental and advanced courses at the undergraduate level in English. Faculty members may be invited to teach courses of International MBA, a program offered by the College of Management.     The faculty position in the International Program on Communication Production

    For the position in The International Program on Communication Production (IPCP) in the College of Communication of Design, prospective candidates with a Master of Fine Arts, and/or a Doctoral degree (most desired), in a related field, with teaching experience and evidence of related accomplishments are required.

    Prospective candidates should demonstrate strong professional credentials and have an interest in developing other courses in emerging media that intersect commercial film, short films, and video/production. Candidates should be committed to the pedagogy of diverse artistic communities and approaches. Candidates also need to demonstrate the ability of teaching in a full-English environment. 

    Hands-on experience and knowledge in Adobe® Premiere, and/or related film editing software practice is a must. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe® Creative Cloud® and/or related software is a plus. 

    The faculty position in the International Program on Communication Production include:

    • Televisual/Video production; emphasis on global digitalization. Media practices are particularly welcome.
    • Commercial Film Production
    • Communication content design/PR
    • Narrative, interactive app design (digital/ social media)
    • Digital cinematography and emergent media

    Hands-on experience and knowledge in Adobe® Premiere, and/or related film editing software practice is a must.
