Responsibilities

The Program Director is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the Medical Laboratory Science Program at Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences, Reading, PA.  Responsibilities include meeting the teaching /learning needs of students, program administration, maintaining NAACLS accreditation, curriculum planning and development, continuous improvement, supervision of program faculty, program budgeting and general quality and effectiveness of the program. The Program Director works collaboratively with staff including administrative assistants, student recruiters, enrollment specialists, and other student support staff.  This position will report to Director of the School of Health Sciences and will have a collaborative relationship with Reading Hospital laboratory which is utilized as the primary clinical site for student learning. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must meet the MLS Program Administration requirements for National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience

  • Must have substantial knowledge related to accreditation processes to lead the program though a 2021 site visit.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • ASCP-BOC or ASCP-BOC Generalist Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist/ Medical Technologist
