Job Description

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications to become a part of our team in emergency medicine. The full time clinical instructor will be responsible for seeing emergency cases as well as provide primary case management of emergency and ICU patients in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In addition, the successful candidate will provide consultation to clients and referring veterinarians seeking emergency care for their animals. The appointment includes weekend and evening duty on a rotating basis. Applicants must be committed to excellent patient management, client service, and clinical teaching. Teaching will primarily be focused on clinical instruction to DVM students assigned to the emergency service but will also include teaching and supervision of interns working the evening and weekend emergency shifts as well as opportunities to participate in didactic and laboratory sessions for students in the DVM curriculum

Required Qualifications

DVM or equivalent foreign degree by appointment start date.
Successful completion of an ACVECC approved residency program (or three years of experience in emergency medicine), by appointment start date.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal interactions.
Must be eligible for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by appointment start date.
Occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meetings.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Training experience (internship or residency in ECC).
Advanced Clinical Experience.
Experience in Teaching.
Track Record of Scholarly activity.
