Indiana University Department of Epidemiology/Biostatistics in Bloomington, Indiana seeks applicants for the position of Biostatistician II.
They will provide biostatistics consultations to faculty and researchers performing health-related research. Perform multivariate analysis (principal components, factor analysis, etc) for research with metabolomics data. Use clinical trial methods and correlated data analysis (linear and generalized mixed models) for research with cluster randomized trials and longitudinal data. Develop and implement methods for “Rigor, Reproducibility, and Transparency (RRT)” specifically in nutrition-related research, including assisting researchers with clinical trial data monitoring and quality control methods as well as verification of analyses for manuscripts, and facilitating archiving and sharing of data, codebooks, and syntax code for public access. Collaborate with faculty researchers providing statistical programming, data analysis, interpreting analysis results, writing analytical portions of manuscripts based on methods and results of analysis, and address manuscript revisions based on reviewer comments. Support investigators in grant development including statistical design of studies, sample size and power calculations, and prepare analysis plans of grant proposals. Mentor interns and graduate students including provide training and statistical guidance when necessary. Prepare and deliver instructional workshops, guest lectures for regular classes and other training on basic and advanced statistical techniques.
Position requires Master’s degree in Statistics or related field. 2 years of post-graduate experience in statistics. 2 years of experience with statistical consulting. Experience in public health or a biomedical field. 2 years of experience in the following: R/Rstudio (base, lme, lme4, ggplot2), SAS (SAS/STAT and SAS/Macro) and SPSS syntax. 2 years of experience in statistical methods including linear and logistic regression, ANOVA, linear mixed models and generalized linear mixed models (GEE). Experience with Tableau for data visualization and G*power for sample size calculations. Experience with multivariate methods including factor analysis and principal components. Experience in performing power and sample size calculations for research grant proposals. Experience with preparation of grant applications. Experience mentoring graduate students.
