About the Opportunity:
The Safety and Space Officer will work with Bouve College of Health Sciences and University administrators to provide planning, guidance and implementation of best practices and policies related to Lab and Lab Classroom, Research and Administrative space needs, and Clinical Compliance operations. This is a temporary, non-benefits eligible 40 hour per week position.

Responsibilities:
The Major areas of responsibility include:
  • Develop and coordinate College-wide laboratory practices to ensure research and teaching activities are conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with the University's Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies. Oversee all PPE related issues involved in procuring, organizing, and delivering throughout the College. Work in a collegial manner with Department Safety Officers (DSOs) to implement such practices. Serve as the facilitator between EHS and the DSOs.
  • Provide assistance with strategy, evaluation, planning, and utilization considerations for space in the College envelope, including space needs for academic program delivery, new hires (faculty and staff), and funded research, with an emphasis on spaces involving intensive equipment and specialized infrastructure needs.
  • Conceptualize innovative and efficient approaches to research/operational space utilization.
  • Develop and maintain the College's space inventory and allocation data, including usage (e.g. office, research, instructional, administrative support) and optimization metrics. Work effectively with the Dean's Office, administrators, facilities personnel, faculty, staff, and students during the design and implementation phase of renovation projects to understand user needs and assure satisfactory results.
  • Develop a comprehensive inventory of clinical placement operations in support of clinical needs for the School of Pharmacy, the School of Clinical and Rehabilitation Sciences, the Future School of Public Health and the School of Nursing.
  • Manage inventory of supplies needs for all clinical classrooms and placements.
  • In coordination with the purchasing office work to secure supplies needed for the efficient operation of the clinical locations
  • Oversee and coordinate associated requirements such as fit-testing to ensure smooth transition of students into clinical placements
  • As needed connect with clinical sites to resolves issues and address needs

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Experience of six to eight or more years of project management/administrative experience in a higher education setting strongly preferred. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Proven capability to manage/prioritize multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service with faculty, staff, students and vendors. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, space planning software (e.g., Archibus or equivalent), with the ability to learn new software programs as needed or directed.
