About the Opportunity:
Northeastern is a large research university where many of the brightest minds innovate in labs, in classrooms and in the real world, every day. We are looking for a talented individual to join our award-winning, fast-paced social media team, where they will use monitoring strategies to identify potential issues, provide timely updates on developing situations and maintain and understand audience sentiment. The Social Media Coordinator must have strong writing skills, the ability to identify and stay ahead of emerging trends and be able to quickly synthesize complex information into reports for university leadership.
The ideal candidate will also be able to use social listening tactics to identify areas of opportunity for effective engagement and use their knowledge of the digital media landscape to think expansively about how to create eye-catching content customized for a range of different audiences and platforms. The ability to create innovative and effective text, photo and video content that best fits the intended social distribution platform will be critical to success in this position. A successful candidate must think and act quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and representing Northeastern University at the highest level.
1-3years of experience in social media and digital media or marketing
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Reddit, TikTok, Discord and WhatsApp with a focus on how each platform can and should be utilized.
Expertise in social media monitoring and reporting tools (Sprinklr preferred)
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or other creative tools, and experience leveraging them in a professional capacity.
Excellent writing and copy-editing skills, with the ability to target content to applicable audiences.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining speed and consistency.
Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
Self-starter with the ability to be proactive and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in higher education is not needed, nor is it desired.
