The Department of Art at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for the position of Professional Assistant Professor/Galleries Manager. This is a full-time, non-tenure, one-year, renewable appointment to begin in the fall of 2017.


  • MFA in Studio Art
  • Evidence of an active professional record at a national level


  • Two years of teaching experience in foundations at the university or college level, beyond graduate teaching assistantship
  • Gallery management experience centered in logistics and administration
  • Expertise in graphic design applications and video editing

The ideal candidate for the post of Professional Assistant Professor/Galleries Manager will be able to demonstrate a distinguished professional record centered in studio practice, teaching, and gallery management. The duties of the post will be divided among teaching and administration of the University Galleries. Reporting to the Department Chair and the Director of University Galleries, the candidate must possess expertise in a broadly defined foundations discipline, in gallery management, in graphic design applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), and in video editing. The candidate must demonstrate capacity to oversee daily gallery operations related to personnel, administration, exhibition logistics, facility maintenance, relationships with partners on campus and within the community, and the production of the galleries’ public relations materials.

The Department of Art at TAMU-CC offers areas of study in Art History, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Photography, Sculpture, Print Media, and Painting/Drawing. With new state-of-the-art resources in Photography, Graphic Design, and Print Media, the program has also launched comprehensive digital fabrication and rapid technologies in its Creative Engineering Lab (CEL). The Art Department is experiencing a flourishing MFA program and maintains two professional art galleries. As an ocean community with immediate access to nearby metropolitan centers in Houston, San Antonio, and Austin, Corpus Christi provides an ideal setting for creative activity.
