General Summary/Purpose:
This position is primarily responsible for processing inter library lending requests and materials for users of non-Johns Hopkins libraries, upon request by their library. The position also assists with other Resource Sharing activities, such as processing rapid article requests, searching the stacks, and document scanning and delivery. This position will also be cross-trained to be able to complete and troubleshoot higher-level borrowing and lending requests.
Note:This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Uses advanced resource sharing techniques to provide exceptional customer services and efficient delivery of materials from the Milton S. Eisenhower Library collection to other libraries
- Verifies accuracy and processes requests via Illiad using a variety of tools and databases such as the library Integrated Library System and OCLC
- Retrieves requests, routes, and processes requests efficiently
- Scans articles or book chapters as needed
- Promotes the Johns Hopkins Libraries by fostering collegial goodwill and understanding
- Troubleshoots and reports problems as needed
- Prints and maintains invoices using ILLiad Billing Manager
- Maintains and improve documentation and communications
- Supports and participates in Resource Sharing projects
- Trains student workers in lending
- Develops specific student training documentation and program
- Review and recommended service improvements based on lending statistics
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years related working experience OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training preferred.
- Three years related experience; additional education can substitute for experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with OCLC, ILLiad, docline, or other combination of bibliographic management or resource sharing systems
- Two years of relevant library experience

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
