Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Oncology (Ref.: 501729), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The Department of Clinical Oncology is an academic department specialized in a full spectrum of non-surgical cancer services including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological targeted therapy and palliative care. Please visit https://www.oncology.hku.hk/ for more information about the Department.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or a related discipline. They should be able to demonstrate excellence in research in medical physics and radiation biology with evidence of international recognition, and proven ability in teaching, curriculum development and research postgraduate education. The appointee is expected to take part in the following:

  1. Teaching of medical and physics residents, medical students, medical dosimetrists, and radiation therapists;
  2. Active engagement in clinical innovation and translational research in various areas such as motion management, AI and Radiomics applications, advanced MRI-guided radiotherapy, proton/heavy ion therapy, small animal irradiation, mechanisms of DNA damage and repair following novel radiotherapy, and FLASH radiation therapy;
  3. Clinical duties such as quality assurance, machine maintenance and calibration, patient treatment planning and treatment support, as well as technology and workflow implementation; and
  4. Supervision of procedures including (i) stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), (ii) stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and (iii) high dose-rate brachytherapy.


A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
