The Department of Construction at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions. It is anticipated that the appointments will begin August 2021. One position is an Assistant/Associate Professor with responsibilities that include undergraduate instruction, research, and university and public service. The other position is an Associate Professor/Professor position with the possibility to serve as the department chair.
Housed in the School of Engineering, the Department of
Construction offers BS in construction management, a minor in
construction management for students pursuing a BS or BA in another
major, and a land surveying specialization. The Construction
Management program is accredited by the American Council for
Construction Education. Department students and staff also

Candidates for these positions will be expected to be
student-centered and should embrace the Teacher-Scholar model,
demonstrate a commitment to promoting experiential learning, and
contribute to the improvement of the construction industry through
their research. Hired faculty must be prepared to pursue
externally sponsored research, engage in interdisciplinary
collaboration, guide students in scholarly activities, and
participate in industry outreach and service, advisory board
relations, and program promotion. Construction faculty
members are encouraged to perform research with engineering
graduate students and serve on thesis committees. Salary and
rank for both positions will commensurate with qualifications and

Minimum Qualifications
Assistant/Associate Professor: Ability to teach a variety of
courses in the department. A PhD (ABD candidates may be considered)
in a construction-related field such as Construction Management,
Construction Engineering, and/or Civil Engineering is required.
Demonstrated construction management knowledge is required. Prior
teaching experience or similar such as conducting educational
seminars and/or workshops, or professional presentations is
desirable.
Associate Professor/Professor: Selection criteria will emphasize finding the best qualified candidate with leadership skills, ability to interact effectively with alumni and local construction industry, ability to mentor faculty, ability to promote the growth of research initiatives and programs already established in the department, and ability to obtain funded research. A PhD in a construction-related field such as Construction Management, Construction Engineering, and/or Civil Engineering is required. Demonstrated construction management knowledge is required.
Terms of Appointment
Full-time, continuing, tenure-eligible appointment beginning August
2021.
