Pierpont Community and Technical College is seeking applicants for a full-time position in Health Sciences teaching in the LPN Program and clinical coordinating.  This position will begin August 2020. Individuals with a commitment to teaching and scholarly excellence are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will have responsibility for teaching, arranging student clinical placement, advising, participating in departmental and college service activities, and participating in professional development.  Individuals with interest in or expertise in curriculum innovation as well as a commitment to teaching in their specialties are encouraged to apply. Expertise in instructional technology is desirable.


 Examples Of Duties:
  1. Serves as the LPN Program Clinical Coordinator
  2. Oversee the coordination of all clinical practicum courses for the LPN program. This will include visiting clinical sites affiliated with the LPN Program.
  3. Obtain new clinical sites for a broader experience for the LPN students
  4. Collaborate with the LN Program Coordinator in all matters of the LPN program to include assessment, advisory board, and curriculum review for the program
  5. Work with the LPN Advisory Board in matters relating to the clinical practicum and instruction
  6. Instruct and assess appropriate courses in the LPN program. This will require traveling to Braxton County Campus in Flatwoods and the Advanced Technology Center in Fairmont, WV
  7. Serve on school and college-wide committees
  8. Attend school and faculty meetings
  9. Attend professional development activities
  10. Exhibit professional and scholarly growth
  11. Maintain continuing education to upgrade and update skills and knowledge in both the health field and education
  12. Maintain membership in professional organizations
  13. Evaluate clinical sites and clinical instructors
  14. Maintain scheduled office hours and classroom hours
  15. Serve as an effective academic advisor
  16. Collaborate with other faculty members as a team player
  17. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences


 Typical Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferably a Master's degree

  • Hold a current license as a registered professional nurse in the state of WV

  • Have experience as a registered professional nurse within the three years immediately preceding employment as a faculty member.

Experience will include:

  •  Two years of patient side nursing care experience in an acute, intermediate or long-term care facility

  • One or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas:  teaching, supervision or administration
