Description: The Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) is pleased to announce a national search for the Director of the Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program, with the intended start date of July 1, 2021. As the nation's premier graduate program dedicated to the formation of exceptional leaders of Catholic schools and systems, the Remick Leadership Program is housed within the Institute for Educational Initiatives at the University of Notre Dame.

The Director of the Remick Leadership Program reports to the Academic Leadership Team of ACE, which consists of the ACE Executive Director and the Senior Academic Advisor. The Director position is funded by endowment revenue and program tuition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for oversight of all dimensions of the Remick Leadership Program, with special attention to the following:

Program Direction (65%)
Visionary Program Leadership
  • Articulating a compelling vision for an inspirational, innovative, and effective Catholic school leader
  • Developing, implementing, and continuously refining program activities with the RLP program team to identify and form outstanding Catholic school leaders who embody this vision
  • Engaging a wide range of stakeholders (e.g. bishops, superintendents, pastors, benefactors) to enhance awareness and grow the program
  • Modeling and enacting transformational leadership by cultivating a culture of collaboration at all levels, including working closely with the ACE Director of Spiritual Life to oversee the pastoral, and distinctively Catholic, dimensions of the program

Recruiting and Retaining Exceptional Program Faculty and Staff
  • Growing the academic profile of the program by attracting, sustaining, and leading a talented group of core team faculty members and national adjunct faculty
  • Securing and leading a national cadre of practitioners who serve the program as executive coaches
  • Hiring and managing a highly effective team of professional and pastoral staff
  • Conducting meaningful faculty and staff annual reviews focused on professional growth

Program Administration and Oversight
  • Ensuring the effective recruitment and selection of high-quality program candidates committed to Catholic education
  • Reviewing curriculum annually to ensure adherence to academic standards, continuous improvement, and rigor
  • Ensuring progress toward accreditation
  • Maintaining the financial and operational health of the program through budgeting and stewardship practices

Teaching (20%)

The Director of the Remick Leadership Program is also an essential faculty member of ACE and the IEI with expansive and valuable expertise to share with program participants. As such, the Director is expected to carry the following teaching load annually:
  • At least one course during the summer session on campus
  • One online course each semester of the academic year
Research and Scholarship (10%)
The Director of the Remick Leadership Program is strongly encouraged to engage in a scholarly agenda, which may be focused on practice-oriented/applied topics. A record of engagement with a scholarly community relevant to educational leadership and/or Catholic education is preferred. The Director is also charged with cultivating a spirit of inquiry and scholarship amongst the core faculty of the program, including potentially conducting research studies and sharing findings and results broadly in order to advance the field of Catholic education.

Service (5%)
The Director of the Remick Leadership Program is expected to engage in service to the broader ACE, IEI, and University communities. The Director may be asked to undertake additional service-oriented duties, as deemed appropriate by the Executive Director of ACE.

Qualifications:
Competitive candidates will have a terminal degree in a relevant field and demonstrated excellence in core areas such as teacher and leader formation, educational administration, and/or scholarship. Previous experience as a school leader is strongly preferred. The Director of the Remick Leadership Program is appointed to the Teaching Faculty of the University of Notre Dame at a rank commensurate with experience. The position will begin July 1, 2021.
