Reporting to the Vice-President and Provost, the Dean will be a distinguished academic appointable at the rank of Full Professor, who will have a broad understanding of, and appreciation for, the range of scholarship found within the Faculty of Music. Among other responsibilities, the Dean will effectively manage resources, advance world-leading research, promote pedagogical and scholarly excellence, and nurture mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Dean will bring significant leadership experience that demonstrates their commitment to Indigeneity, diversity, and inclusion, and will have a proven track record of addressing systemic, structural, and historical disadvantage in research, pedagogy, and performance, as well as employment and admissions. They will provide visionary and innovative leadership, encouraging collegiality and collaboration and empowering faculty, staff, and students. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to balance consultation with sound decision-making, be an excellent communicator and motivator, and be a person of unassailable integrity and character.
