A postdoctoral fellow position is for the genomic and cytogenetic study of arboviral vector Aedes aegypti. The main objective of these studies is to introduce innovative approaches for identification and characterization of chromosomal rearrangements in the Aedes aegypti genome. A successful candidate for this position will identify chromosomal rearrangements in the genome of Aedes aegypti, the major vector of dengue and Zika fever. The position will require using cutting edge molecular technologies such as Hi-C approach, Oxford Nanopore Technology sequencing, and fluorescence in situ hybridization. In addition, simple, but robust, tools will be developed to detect chromosomal inversions in natural populations.
Required Qualifications: A candidate must have Ph.D. in Genetics, Cell Biology, Entomology, or related disciplines earned no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year of eligibility remaining. The position will be required to have experience in molecular biology, cytogenetics, fluorescence in situ hybridization, and bioinformatics.
