Job Summary
The Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking to hire a qualified candidate to provide web development and related general application creation and support. Under minimal supervision, the individual will be responsible for creating, maintaining and updating the various College of Veterinary Medicine websites, as well as implementation and support of various other applications utilized in the department. The Vet Med webmaster will be a member of the Communications and Marketing Department, working closely with the Office of instructional and Information Technology, and expected to provide excellent customer support for faculty, staff and students to help ensure the highest visibility for the college. The webmaster will be responsible for supporting the existing website infrastructure and developing new technologies. The individual will be expected to have extensive knowledge in a variety of web development languages. The person must have a strong understanding of and proficient experience with HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, PHP, MySQL, WordPress CMS, Adobe DreamWeaver, etc. as appropriate. The webmaster is directly responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying and monitoring web-based and other custom applications. The person will troubleshoot technical design issues, update content and other technical support related to the web. This position will work collaboratively with others to achieve their goals, and effectively work in both team and individual settings with a variety of stakeholders across the college. This position may also be required to perform other IT duties that fall under the support role of the position including but not limited to application development, applications support, end user support and end user training as required.
Essential Functions
1. Provides technical design, implementation, maintenance, system administration and support of hardware, software, network and/or instructional technology.
2. Provides end-user support on information technology issues through consultation and advising, problem identification and resolution, training and preparation/maintenance of documentation.
3. Participates in projects and cross-functional activities related to information technology initiatives or processes.
4. May provide on-call support for designated systems or services

Degree accepted in lieu of experience for Specialist IV only
Requirements for Additional Job Levels
Typical salaries for the Specialist IV level are between $55,000 and $65,000.
The Specialist V position requires a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) or more years of applicable experience as indicated. The starting salaries for this level are typically between $64,000 and $75,000.

The ideal candidate should: display excellent written and oral skills with demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative and organizational abilities; perform in a varied, fast-paced environment; and be a detail-oriented, highly motivated self-starter skilled in web design, development, implementation, analytics and security of custom website(s).
Must have a solid knowledge of web-related technologies, methodologies, best practices and UX design, as well as the ability to translate design into appropriate coding.
