Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement will be responsible for planning and executing alumni engagement activities with the ultimate goal of enhancing our alumni relations in hopes to lead to greater giving participation. This position will manage all aspects of up to three Alumni Councils. This includes identifying new volunteer prospects, initiating new programs that connect alumni to the University, and working to align their work with Alumni Board of Director’s and the University’s strategic plan. This person will manage all of our Signature Events such as Alumni Weekend/Alumni Awards Dinner, our Annual Alumni Spring Celebration, Norse Nuptials, Senior Toast and more. In addition, will be developing and implementing new alumni engagement opportunities (virtual/in-person) requiring this person to work collaboratively with campus constituents to identify how alumni can support their efforts to support student success. This includes programs related to recruitment and retention, mentoring, career and professional development, educational sessions/webinars, affinity networks and reunions as well as networking all of which encourages lifelong learning. In addition, will supervise a graduate assistant position and a student employee position.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of the three Alumni Councils. This includes but is not limited to: identifying new Council members, train new volunteers, attend council and committee meetings, coordinate logistics for meetings, develop a succession plan for officers, initiate programs that connect alumni to the University, develop all communications with the Councils including agendas, minutes and rosters, budget oversight, strategic planning and program development.

Develop and implement alumni engagement opportunities (virtual/in-person) working collaboratively with campus constituents to identify the needs. These may include programs related to recruitment and retention, mentoring, career and professional development, educational sessions/webinars, affinity networks, reunions and networking all of which encourages lifelong learning. Would include assisting with budget oversight for these programs.

Responsible for planning signature events associated with Alumni Programs including the Alumni Awards Dinner, Annual Alumni Celebration, Norse Nuptials, Senior Toast, NKU Alumni Employee Appreciation event, the YP Series and more. Would include assisting with budget oversight for these programs.

Work closely with the Annual Giving and/or Development team to identify meaningful engagement opportunities for alumni.

Manage a graduate internship position, and student employee position. recruit, hire and train the graduate intern and student employee. Serve as the supervisor to these positions.

Develop and manage a process for assessment, tracking and reporting of alumni engagement to measure program participation and effectiveness.

Qualifications

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required
minimum of 3 years of related work experience
Preference given to candidates with a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Volunteer Management, Project Management, Fundraising

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Creative thinker
Good customer service
Knowledge of Microsoft Office package
Event Planning and Volunteer Management
Ability to review and make recommendations to improve and streamline processes
Supervision and Management experience
Work collaboratively across Division lines
Ability to organize and coordinate multiple programs and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Ability to prioritize own work and work independently.
