TENURE TRACK OPEN RANK FACULTY POSITIONS IN BIOSTATISTICS

At a time when public health has never been more important, Temple University’s College of Public Health is working to solve health’s complexities for a better tomorrow. As one of the largest colleges of public health in the country, we are home to faculty who specialize in 17 health disciplines and conduct novel research and prepare researchers, practitioners and educators to collaborate across disciplines to understand community needs, create evidence-based solutions, and deliver effective, compassionate care. We invite applications for faculty specializing in Biostatistics to join the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Spring or Summer 2021.

Qualifications. A doctorate in biostatistics, statistics or related field is required. Those with a strong background in spatial statistics and statistical methods for intervention trials including multilevel interventions, longitudinal data analysis, and complex health data especially encouraged to apply. For early career applicants, preferred candidates are individuals currently holding the rank of assistant professor or persons completing or having recently completed a postdoctoral position. Midcareer and senior applicants should have an active, externally-funded research portfolio and research record appropriate to warrant a tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Cluster hiring of research teams including senior and early career faculty will be considered. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience. Rank is open for this tenure track position with faculty hired at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor depending on qualifications. The Department. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics combines curiosity with rigorous, applied methods that lead us to compelling questions and impactful results to improve public health. We have 15 faculty members who conduct research in several areas, such as mediation, causal inference, missing data and measurement error, semiparametric regression, latent variable modeling, and psychometrics as well as behavioral and chronic disease epidemiology, cancer prevention and control, perinatal and reproductive epidemiology, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and the impact of environmental exposures on waterborne diseases, cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Our collaborators include Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Center for Obesity Research and Education, Temple’s Katz School of Medicine, Temple’s Health System, other health systems, community health centers, and local and state public health agencies. The Department operates the Biostatistics Core, which engages in collaborative research and offers comprehensive biostatistical consultation and computational services. The Department annually enrolls ~1,400 students with diverse backgrounds in our courses and has >90 graduate students in 5 programs – PhD in Epidemiology; MPH degrees in Epidemiology, Applied Biostatistics, and Environmental Health; and MS in Epidemiology. The Department contributes to the College’s nationally recognized BS in Public Health and administers a minor in Applied Epidemiology.

The College. Devoted to an interprofessional environment for academic programming and research, the College of Public Health, a CEPH-accredited school of public health, is a constellation of academic units of public health, social work and health profession disciplines, enrolling 4,300 students. The College’s research focuses on social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, medical/health interventions, and basic science and is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and other major funders. The College has recently launched a new Center focused on Community Engaged Research and Practice. We are harnessing the collective energies of our clinical disciplines through an emerging, innovative framework for interprofessional education.
