Purpose of Position

Northern Kentucky University, 7 miles from downtown Cincinnati, is seeking an innovative, collaborative and visionary Academic Fieldwork Coordinator ( AFWC ) in our developing Entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program. As a founding member of the entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, the AFWC is in a unique position to design and initiate fieldwork experiences that develop occupational therapy leaders committed to the program’s mission of occupational justice, positive social change, and serving the health and occupational needs of diverse and underrepresented populations.

As a member of the School of Kinesiology, Counseling, and Rehabilitative Sciences, the AFWC will be part of a multi-disciplinary environment and collaborate with a diverse team of faculty and students. The AFWC is responsible for creating unique experiential learning opportunities to prepare students for today’s healthcare challenges. The AFWC is responsible for the coordination, management, and compliance of the Level I and Level II fieldwork experiences required by ACOTE standards. In addition, the AFWC ensures the quality and integrity of the fieldwork experience and creates a fieldwork program that meets ACOTE standards, works collaboratively with the Program Director to advance the program’s mission, and builds effective relationships with faculty, staff, student and the community to support the fieldwork experience.

The position is a full-time, 10-month, core faculty position.

Primary Responsibilities

The AFWC is responsible for the coordination, management, and compliance of the Level I and Level II fieldwork experiences required by ACOTE standards. In addition, the AFWC ensures the quality and integrity of the fieldwork experience and creates a fieldwork program that meets ACOTE standards, manages faculty, staff, student and community relationships to support the fieldwork experience, and works collaboratively with the OTD Program Director to advance the program’s mission. The AFWC also teaches courses in the OTD curriculum. The AFWC also serves on departmental, school, college, and university committees, and provide service in various areas. The position is full-time, ten-months, non-tenure track renewable with competitive salary.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have earned a doctorate degree from an accredited institution, NBCOT certification, and at least two years of clinical experience in occupation therapy. Candidates should demonstrate a student-centered focus and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Kentucky and have experience in occupation therapy accreditation or administration.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in academia, fieldwork education, and neuro rehabilitation is preferred as is knowledge of occupational therapy curriculum development and ACOTE accreditation processes. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of the occupation-based therapy model. Excellent networking, collaboration, innovation, leadership skills, strong organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential.
