Program Director, McNair Research Scholars

Salary Basis: 12 month

Responsibilities:
1. Manage the process to recruit and select individuals to participate; includes development and maintenance of media and marketing campaigns.
2. Coordinate and facilitate mentorships, workshops, professional development, travel, research opportunities, and events. Identify and coordinate student summer internships and academic research opportunities nationwide, to include US Territories. Serve as co-advisor for students to ensure matriculation and professional pathway opportunities, as well as applications to graduate schools
3. Manage, oversee, and compile data, and analyze and report on participant and faculty activities as directed by grant narrative; prepare, review, and submit all required program reports.
4. Identify and seek additional funding for student activities/support
5. Manage office functions and controls as required by the grant; Manage the program's yearly budget of $236,000 plus.
6. Prepare all purchasing requests, faculty Employment Action Forms (EAF's) and staff and mentor paperwork.
7. Organize symposia on campus with statewide and regional participation of McNair scholars; collaborate with all state McNair programs for events; collaborate with national McNair programs and events.


Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree;
2. Grant management knowledge and proven experience;
3. Working knowledge of federal TRIO programs;
4. Demonstrated knowledge of Delta State University academic and support programs;
5. A commitment to working with diverse populations in the Mississippi Delta, including demonstrated experience or potential in recruiting and retaining students from disadvantaged populations to graduate and professional programs.
6. A commitment to attend meetings, conferences, or special events after normal work hours and on weekends; and
7. A valid driver’s license and access to an insured motor vehicle for business use are required.

2. Five years’ experience in higher education administration, advising, management and/or counseling.
3. Strong knowledge of academic research, ideally with at least one published academic article and experience supervising student research.
4. Experience managing and implementing federal grant funding and activities
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and time management skills.
6. Experience directly advising and mentoring students similar to McNair Research Scholars.
7. Committed to the mission and vision of the McNair Program.
8. Strong preference to a candidate who is a McNair alumnus or is in target audience demographic.
9. Strong preference to a candidate with professional experience in a STEM field.
10. Strong preference to a candidate with experience working in a TRIO program.


Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.
