Associate Vice President, Human Resources #604979
Guides and leads several functional areas of HR (benefits, compensation, hiring, etc.) to promote the development of programs and practices. Establishes goals and a strategic vision for Human Resources to direct program changes and improve effectiveness. Responsible for ensuring the University’s commitment to EEO/Affirmative Action to ensure an inclusive campus environment.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Oversees Human Resources unit, which may include multiple
Directors or other senior-level individual contributors; leads
Managers, Assistant Directors, and Directors through coaching and
development; maintains effective leadership culture at all levels;
monitors outputs and outcomes of completed work of others to ensure
soundness of approach and effectiveness, and delegates complex
tasks to others.
Has decision authority for budget/resource matters.
Applies and prioritizes awareness of broad issues and management trends, and advanced knowledge and skills.
Establishes, monitors, and evaluates standards, policies, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with institutional mission, values, and goals.
Exercises autonomy to facilitate the decision-making process for matters with institutional impact.
Reviews individual and team conduct and performance to promote effectiveness.
Responsible for approval of Human Resources processes to ensure adherence with internal controls and external requirements.
Represents the department to key stakeholders and leaders.
Directs the implementation of Human Resources policies, processes, procedures, and programs to promote effective, consistent utilization.
Master’s Degree in Human Resources OR related field, AND
5 years of management or supervisory experience, AND
8+ years of Human Resources experience.
5+ years leading multiple HR functions.
SHRM (SHRM -CP or SHRM-SCP) or HRCI (PHR or SPHR)
Director level HR experience in college or university OR similar complex institution.
Experience leading and coordinating centralized and distributed HR operations.
Experience developling and improving institutional wide initiatives, policies, and programs.
Experience working with advisory and constituency groups on behalf of the HR function.
