Postdoctoral Associate - Vascular Surgery (63650)

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida seeks a highly self-motivated postdoctoral associate to work under the mentorship of Dr. Zhihua Jiang. Dr. Jiang's lab conducts research on multiple projects aimed at elucidating mechanisms for the development of aortic aneurysms. The candidate should have experience in the field of Vascular Biology and Immunology.

Experience with mouse models, small animal surgery, and a background in phenotyping immune cells, such as flow cytometry, single cell RNA sequencing, and Seahorse cell metabolic analysis is preferred, but not required.

With the full-time research position, the Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to carry out the following duties:

  1. Cell culture, various bench-top assays, and animal experiments
  2. Development of new methods required for completion of the research projects
  3. Data collection, organization, analysis, and presentation
  4. Abstract and manuscript preparation
  5. Research proposal submission

Individuals will be required to do occasional light lifting as required for laboratory restocking, maintenance, etc.

Individuals will be required to comply with all institutional safety policies including Universal Precautions and OSHA standards when handling toxic, hazardous, flammable, radioactive or potentially infectious or carcinogenic materials. This may require wearing common protective garments or equipment such as gloves, eye protection, face mask, gown or lab coat, etc. Additionally some procedures may require the use of a fume hood or biological safety cabinet.

Required: Ph.D. in molecular or cell biology, or related field. Experience in the field of Vascular Biology and Immunology.
