Job Description:

Information Technology Services at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Programmer / Analyst in the Enterprise Application Services department. Expectations include working with staff to design, develop, document and test applications which support and integrate with the host of services and solutions that the team manages. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance and programming support to user offices as well as to other ITS units.

Duties include but not limited to: designing, developing, modifying, documenting, and testing applications; writing program code that meets user needs and specifications; troubleshooting / debugging routine problems; assisting / advising individual users in identifying and solving technical problems; and continuous skills development.


Requirements:

Required qualifications: bachelor's degree by time of hire; understanding of relational databases; demonstrated programming experience.

Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science, information science or mathematics; experience in a UNIX or Linux environment; experience working in a higher education environment; demonstrable ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks; experience working as a member of a programming team; demonstrated communication skills; proven problem-solving techniques; ability and desire to learn independently; experience in any of the following: SQL, PL/SQL programming, Argos or other web-based reporting tool; understanding of object-oriented programming; experience with Ellucian's Banner Student Information System or other Ellucian products; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
