Associate / Assistant Professor (PR0031/20-21)

The Department offers a vibrant and collegial academic environment for research and teaching. It currently has a team of about 17 academic or teaching colleagues from various cultural backgrounds and over 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Department places strong emphasis on high-quality and impactful research, particularly on research that informs social and environmental policies and advances knowledge in and beyond the discipline.

The Department is recruiting an Associate/Assistant Professor in human geography with primary expertise in urban research. Various areas of specialization will be considered, including but not limited to health, wellbeing, housing, transportation, urban planning, population and migration, and China urban studies. The appointee is expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as to supervise student research projects at both levels.

Potential candidates should:
•    possess a PhD degree in Geography or a cognate discipline
•    have track record of high-quality publications
•    preferably have records of success in securing research funding, possess specific geographical skills (such as urban analytics, big data applications, GIS and quantitative modeling), and exhibit interdisciplinary research experience or potentials

This is a tenure-track position. Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years commencing January 2021 or as soon as possible. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
