The Syracuse University Center for Online and Digital Learning is looking for a talented and motivated full time Multimedia Designer to join our growing development team. The Multimedia Designer works closely with staff and faculty to create highly professional and compelling academic course materials. The ideal Multimedia Design must have a proven understanding of visual communication and thrive within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia, Digital Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field (Master’s degree preferred), or combination of education and experience.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of graphic design production including, among other things, typography, composition and layout, color theory, photography and digital media.

• Deep understanding of visual communication.

• Creative thinking with the ability to execute ideas.

• Extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite and eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and Adobe Captivate.

• Familiarity with web design principles and application in an LMS such as Blackboard.

• Excellent project management skills.

• Ability to work to deadlines.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Working knowledge of related disciplines such as video production and editing, photography, and audio sound design.

• Ability to show patience, attention to detail, and a client-centric focus.

• Ability to both lead and follow instructions.

• Ability to operate smoothly and efficiently within a group.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional designers and video producers in creating and manipulating digital media for e-learning content, including, among other things, 2D designs, illustrations, animations, and motion graphics.

• Work on multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of excellence and conformity to the university’s graphic standards.

• Independently create appropriate digital solutions based on design documents, storyboards, and project agreements.

• Follow established review process for feedback throughout development process.

• Work with staff and faculty on the creation of storyboards for online presentations and video production.

• Utilize and recommend advanced technologies, workflows, and post-production methodologies for the development of digital content.

• Commitment to understanding and using new technology.

• Organize, manage, and deliver acquired digital media assets.

• Proactively communicate project progress and deliver high-quality work that meets deadlines.

• Strong work ethic. Work in accordance with company objectives, values, and strategy.
