Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor—Early Childhood Education

The Department of Teacher Education invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education to begin in Fall 2021. Responsibilities will include the following: Teaching and Advising at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels; developing and maintaining an active research agenda in Early Childhood Education; actively pursuing external funding to support research activities; community engagement activities, including partnering with local early childhood service providers in the borderland region; and collaborating in professional service with colleagues across departments.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE AND DEPARTMENT:  Building on the multicultural and multilingual richness of the Paso del Norte region, the College of Education (https://www.utep.edu/education/) strives to model transformative, boundary-crossing education with strategic foci that include equity and social justice, learning in transnational and diverse contexts, bilingualism and biliteracy, and university-community partnerships. The college comprises three departments with more than 60 full-time faculty members who serve approximately 2,000 students in undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs. The Department of Teacher Education (https://www.utep.edu/education/about/vision-and-mission.html) prioritizes culturally and linguistically sustaining teaching and research, and bilingual and bicultural interaction is a part of our everyday academic work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: A doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field relevant to the education of young children birth to age 8; an established record of research (associate level) or strong potential for research (assistant level), including external funding; a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in birth to age 5 or preK-6 educational settings.

Preferred:  Research expertise and early childhood teaching experience specifically focused on Infants &Toddlers or Birth to Age 5; experience in community engagement activities, such as cultivating early childhood services-university partnerships; bilingual (Spanish).

SALARY: Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
