The Department of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is seeking an experienced clinician in Critical Care at the Associate or Professor Level to serve as Division Chief for Pediatric Critical Care. The incumbent will have a proven record of accomplishment in leadership, clinical excellence, patient care, education, and mentorship in order to develop the Division in all of its mission areas. This innovative, academic leader will have oversight responsibility for the Pediatric Intensive Care Division, which includes oversight of the Pediatric Hospitalists group, which has an active section chief.
The position includes patient care responsibilities in a state of the art, 20 bed multi-disciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, which averages 1200 admissions per year, is the main referral center for the entire state and surrounding areas, and includes a full complement of pediatric subspecialties including pediatric surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric ENT, pediatric urology and pediatric anesthesiology. UNM serves a diverse patient population and is the only Level 1 Trauma center for the state. Other duties include teaching medical students and residents, a pediatric sedation service, and ECMO program. The Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Division have a long tradition of providing outstanding, comprehensive care to the children of New Mexico. Salary and track will be commensurate with training and experience.
