Starting faculty salary for 2020-21 fiscal year is $85,402 for a 1.0 FTE, 218-day, fiscal year contract, temporary, renewable-dependent upon the continuation of funding. Excellent benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision. Including 3-4 weeks off during Winter Break, 1 week Spring Break, and several additional holidays off throughout the year. Professional development funds for faculty are available as well as tuition waivers for employees and dependents studying at LBCC (restrictions and limitations apply).

LBCC is an Equal Opportunity Educator and Employer. Position Title: Surgical Technician/Technologist Instructor and Program Director Division/Department: Surgical Technology Location Healthcare Occupations Center, Lebanon, OR Job Summary:

The faculty member teaches surgical technology courses within the Surgical Technology program which is a year-round program. The faculty member may also be assigned to teach a range of subjects, including but not limited to Perioperative Patient Care, A&P, Microbiology, and Surgical Procedures. The faculty member will collaborate with instructors, students, advisory committees, clinic site coordinators, public agencies and college staff to coordinate planning, development, promotion, delivery and evaluation of training programs. The faculty member will also act as program director for the program and is responsible for all accrediting body requirements and reporting as well as overseeing the program.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s degree with a concentration in surgical technology, plus five years’ experience in either the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both. Credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies ( NCCA ) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in adult education learning theory and online education is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Essential Duties:

Act as Director of the Surgical Technology program following guidelines of ARC / STSA accrediting standards and complying with all required reports and documentation.

Promote excellence in instruction. Identify and meet the learning needs of students.

Revise and update approved curriculum as needed. Develop course schedules and syllabi.

Identify and recommend textbooks, instructional materials, equipment and supplies needed for instruction.

Plan, develop and deliver course lectures and activities.

Develop and implement an assessment plan to gauge student learning. Utilize assessment information to inform and engage students in the success of their studies and their progression through programs.

Utilize assessment information to evaluate and report student pedagogy and curriculum to faculty.

Plan, develop and deliver laboratory instruction, materials and procedures incorporating state-of-the-art industry practices.

Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Successfully interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.

Help recruit part-time faculty as needed for the program.

Communicate effectively in oral and written English.

Maintain accurate grade and attendance records in the Learning Management System ( LMS ).

Organize, lead, conduct and oversee the Surgical Technology Advisory Board meetings.

Oversee clinical site relationship development, student placements, and practicum observations.

Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continued professional development.

Collaborate with the dean, faculty and staff to realize progress toward the college’s strategic goals.
