The Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies educates future leaders in addiction counseling who provide evidence-based integrated care for substance use and co-occurring disorders. Hazelden Betty Ford's Graduate School of Addiction Studies integrates academics with clinical practice supervised by experienced alcohol and drug treatment leaders.

Responsibilities

As a core teaching faculty member, this position will be responsible for educating future leaders in addiction counseling who provide evidence-based integrated care for substance use and co-occurring disorders. This position innovates and continuously improves key education processes based on educational research, internal assessment data, and academic expertise, so that course offerings, teaching strategies and curriculum development demonstrate improved achievement of learning outcomes. Performs teaching, advising, and supervision duties in area of expertise. Participates in the assignment, creation, coordination, and monitoring of clinical placements and internship/externship activities to provide high quality clinical experiences for students in alignment with the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School mission, vision, values, goals, and priorities. Provides orientation to placement sites, clinical supervisors, and students, and conducts periodic site-visits to placements outside of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.

This position may have responsibilities for placement for both degree programs: on-campus and/or online programs. The faculty member must be within driving distance, or willing to relocate, to the campus which is located in Center City, MN.

The Clinical Placement Coordinator will be a core faculty member with the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

• Coordinate clinical placements for students enrolled in Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School programs in accordance with school policy and applicable local, State, and Federal regulations
• Provide supervision necessary to promote acquisition of incremental student competency through clinical laboratory and internship experiences
• Teach and revise course content to ensure optimum learning outcomes
• Provide academic advising and coaching in order to promote successful scholastic adjustment and school performance
• Continually seek and demonstrate knowledge in higher learning and the field of recovery in order to facilitate the development of expertise in students and other professionals
• May design and deliver online courses and develop relevant policies and procedures
• Participate in all aspects of the Graduate School in order to promote continuous improvement of key educational processes
• Demonstrates academic leadership through expert teaching practices including educational research, program innovation, curriculum design and related publications
• Assure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, guests, and visitors

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in counselor education. Related doctoral degrees will be considered if the applicant has been employed as full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013
• Meet criteria for rank as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor at the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies
• Minimum of one year experience substance abuse prevention and treatment or related field
• Current licensure in addiction counseling, professional counseling, social work, psychology, and/or a closely related field
• Experience in higher education teaching, lecturing, training, and/or education
• Competency in PC applications Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supervising students within clinical placement or training sites
