Tenure Track Open Rank, Master of Social Work Position – full-time, tenure track to begin Spring 2021 academic year in the Department of Social Work and Sociology at Concord University, Athens, WV.

Concord University, established in 1872, is a public selective baccalaureate and graduate institution with a strong commitment to programs of excellence in teacher education, business, pre-professional programs in the arts and sciences, and public service. The position involves teaching assignments, and related responsibilities that include day, evening, and weekends as well as delivering asynchronous and synchronous online courses. While the courses are taught online, telecommuting is not permitted. On-campus faculty presence is required to participate in curriculum development, student advisement, and service at the departmental, college, and university level, as well as active engagement within the community.

All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, an on-going program of research, publication, and/or other professional activities designed to enrich student learning and service to the community and profession. There are endless possibilities for the practitioner and scholar in the department as evidenced through a strong commitment to serving students and the community through the provision of practice supervision, robust Title IV-E training, continuing education, events like the Annual Opioid Symposium, and engagement in all level of practice within the region. 

We are seeking high energy applicants with enthusiasm for teaching, intellectual vigor, strong human relations, and communication abilities, and a demonstrated record of post-MSW practice for at least two-years. The individual should adhere to NASW values and ethics and be strongly committed to working with non-traditional rural students.

Qualifications

Location ­– On Camus Athens, WV

Minimum Education – Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited institution, no substitutions considered. A doctorate in social work or complementary program is preferred, and is required for consideration of tenure.  

Required Licenses/Certification - Licensed or license-eligible as a social worker in WV

Required Skills – Strong interpersonal and collaborative ability, public speaking, scholarly and service driven, and adherence to NASW ethical principles and standards. 

Required Experience – At least two-years practice experience post MSW   

Preferred Qualifications – Doctorate in related field; evidence of teaching and/or advising at the postsecondary level; experience with online teaching and course development; familiarity with grant writing.
