Position Function
The university Registrar is the senior leader of the Office of the Registrar reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Planning and Management. This position supports the academic enterprise, advancing academic initiatives and creating an administrative structure that promotes student success while maintaining a focus on student service. This position is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the student academic record and consult with other campus officials to develop, revise, and administer registration and enrollment procedures. This position also serves as the campus compliance officer for the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act ( FERPA ) and the steward of University policies and processes related to the support of academic units.
This position is responsible for all functions of the Office of the Registrar including: creation, maintenance and long term retention of student academic records; the development of term courses, schedule of classes and the updating and maintaining the Smart Catalog; the curriculum proposal process and systems, the certification of enrollment and reporting to the Department of Education; the monitoring and verification of degree progress, auditing and final degree clearance and the preparation of diplomas and official transcripts; the monitoring of student academic standings; the enforcement of all academic regulations; the distribution of student record data to academic and administrative units; the collection of enrollment data for analysis and reporting needs; and assisting with commencement activities.
Minimum Education
Master’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience
Eight years of progressive experience in a leadership position within a university Registrar’s Office.
Minimum Other
Excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, flexibility; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with other administrators, instructors, students, other educational institutions officers, government agencies and the general public. Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to coordinate systems and processes while engaging other stakeholders.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree in higher education or related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Experience
Five years of experience as a registrar working in an enrollment management environment at a mid to large size university. Experience using Banner Student Information System.
Preferred Other
Knowledge and expertise in managing a student information system; knowledge and expertise in process review and improvement.
