About the Position

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Lewis & Clark College seeks an experienced and dynamic international recruiter who will lift the college to the next level of global outreach. This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Admissions and will collaborate with the International Students and Scholars office and the Financial Aid Office to develop strategies to increase the college’s population of degree-seeking international students and third culture kids (TCK).

What You'll Do

Global Recruiting

The successful candidate will have a keen understanding of current global recruitment trends, international market characteristics/intelligence and emerging markets. They will be responsible for developing a recruitment plan, prioritizing international student markets, establishing and maintaining ties with recruiting agents. While this position may have some domestic territory assigned to it, the primary focus of this position is to recruit students from outside of the United States of America.

Collaboration

As a member of the undergraduate Admissions Office, this person will be a member of a larger team of skilled admissions professionals. This person will be expected to collaborate with others in the office to achieve the enrollment goals of the college.

Supervision

A successful candidate with several years of experience may be given the responsibility of supervising junior members of the staff and student workers.

Required Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree, advanced training, or a combination of education and relevant training/experience. ​
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional skills working with multiple offices across campus
  • Comprehensive understanding of international cultures
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours - includes evening and weekend work
  • Ability to travel both domestic and international
  • Creative problem solver
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Excellent writing, customer service, and communication skills
  • Experience working with or in diverse communities
  • Commitment to a student-centered/customer service-oriented philosophy
  • Valid U.S. drivers license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers a Master's degree or a combination of education and relevant training/experience.
  • High level of self-motivation, enthusiasm, and initiative
  • Combination of 5 to 7 years of professional experience within higher education, with a minimum of 3 years of that relevant experience within an international affair or an international admissions office setting
  • Experience with strategic planning and establishing strategic goals;
  • Knowledge and experience working with foreign credential evaluations
  • Experience working with educational agencies, EducationUSA, and overseas high schools to recruit international students
  • Existing relationships with governments, agents and consultants abroad
  • Advanced level of proficiency in at least one foreign language
  • Familiarity with a variety of English Language Proficiency Tests including TOEFL, IELTS, English3, etc.
  • Familiarity with immigration policies and procedures, and federal government regulations for visa holders
  • Familiarity with Technolutions, Slate preferred.

Work Schedule
  • Full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-months
  • Monday through Friday, with occasional work after hours and on weekends to support department activities.
  • Travel: 15%

Pay Rate
  • Position level (Assistant/Associate) and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.


Physical Requirements
  • The job works primarily at a desk or is otherwise involved in activities requiring little lifting, climbing or working in tiring positions.

  • Ability to sit in a confined area for several hours at more than 30,000 feet in the air ​
