The Department of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a full time, open rank, tenure-track faculty position. The new faculty member should demonstrate experience in the application of Health Informatics across various healthcare disciplines.

 

Essential job responsibilities included expertise and experience in health informatics as applied to the various elements of data science, user experience, human factors and other related fields that intersect with health informatics. The ideal candidate will have earned a terminal degree in a relevant discipline that qualifies for mentoring students and teaching in our data analytics or user experience tracks of our health informatics graduate programs. Candidates at the rank of Associate professor or above will demonstrate a strong portfolio of research and scholarship. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

The Department of Health Services Administration offers two doctoral programs, and masters programs in Health Informatics (CAHIIM accredited), Healthcare Quality and Safety (CAHME certified), Health Administration (CAHME-accredited, ranked #1 in the nation by US News and World Report), and Healthcare Simulation (one of a few in the nation). We also have a large, AUPHA-certified undergraduate program in Healthcare Management and conduct tailored continuing education programs with the field of practice. The selected applicant will join a diverse and vibrant academic community. With over 40 full-time faculty members, 4,000+ alumni, and an enrollment of just under 800 students, the department has a solid fiscal foundation and an engaged community of alumni and other practitioners. Department faculty engage in multidisciplinary research programs with faculty from across the academic campus academic medical center (UAB Health System) and UAB School of Medicine Informatics Institute. UAB is a Doctoral/Research-Intensive University with an international reputation in health care education and biomedical research.
