General Summary/Purpose

Support clinical research programs in psychiatry working directly with the research team and Principle Investigators in the Women’s Mood Disorders Center. Collect study data by recruiting and coordinating activities of study participants.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Research Program Coordinator, Research Program Manager, and PIs in all aspects of the clinical research center.
  • Execute research protocols.
  • Assist with preparing periodic and annual reports, and reports for weekly team meetings.
  • Perform administrative duties including assisting with preparation for abstract, paper, and poster submissions.
  • Assist in the implementation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions including new applications, changes in research, and continuing reviews.
  • Assist with participant recruitment through various media resources.
  • Assist with developing research participant recruitment campaigns with WMDC team.
  • Monitor social media research recruitment campaigns.
  • Conduct telephone screens of potential participants.
  • Schedule participant appointments.
  • Send reminders and questionnaires to participants.
  • Prepare for participant visits; process and ship blood samples.
  • Reimburse participants for their time.
  • Perform data entry and assist with maintaining master research database. Perform daily and weekly data checking and quality assurance according to study team protocols.
  • Participate in meetings to provide operational updates, report on issues, and make recommendations for resolutions.
  • Perform venipuncture on participants to collect blood samples.
  • Ship materials for remote collection.
  • Collecting vital signs.
  • Administer to research subjects the Structured Clinical Interview for the SCID DSM V, Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS)MADRS, Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS), and other ratings according to protocols.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social science, or other related discipline.

Two years related experience.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

* JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
