Job Description:

Research and Design:

• Understand and document project requirements
• Develop specifications
• Design user interfaces
• Review existing code
• Document bugs and deficiencies

Development and Testing

• Develop new front-end and/or back-end features
• Modify and/or expand existing features
• Programming to access relational data
• Query and manipulate geospatial data
• Conduct debugging and testing
• Keep track, resolve, and fix issues
• Develop and execute unit tests
• Collaborate with other software and database developers

Code Review and Participate in Project Management

  • Maintain versioning of project dependencies

  • Participate in code reviews

  • Develop software documentation



Other Duties

• Work in coordination with other developers on improving software performance and user experience
• Research various technologies and conduct comparative analysis of options
• Assist with publication and other duties as assigned

Commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields and 2 years of appropriate experience, or other equivalent technical training and experience.

Skills and Experience:

• Visual Studio, C#, .NET framework
• HTML5, CSS, Javascript, Angular, Typescript
• Google Map APIs, Mapbox, ESRI or similar for web mapping
• SQL and Oracle
• Version control with Git

• Visualization tools (Tableau etc.)
• Self-starter, take initiative, generate ideas, innovative
• Ability to analyze problems, synthesize requirements, research solutions
• Ability to work in a team, good communication skills
• Capable of working on several projects or tasks at the same time

Familiarity with:

• BI tool/application development, especially with mapping, charts, data grids
• Full stack development experience with data visualization
• Bootstrap
• Kendo
• Highcharts
• Dapper
• GeoJSON
• GIS e.g ESRI ArcGIS Desktop/Server, or other systems
• Web content accessibility guidelines
• Agile and waterfall development methodologies
• Responsive web design
• Transportation related data, especially in transportation safety
