Job Description:

The Division of College Advancement at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of the Fund for Oneonta. Reporting to the Director of the Fund for Oneonta, this position primarily manages the College's telephone fundraising program which involves contacting SUNY Oneonta alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends to solicit charitable contributions as part of the overall annual fund.

The Division of College Advancement is the fundraising arm of SUNY Oneonta and the College at Oneonta Foundation, whose mission is to raise and administer gifts and grants to enhance the academic status of the College through endowment, scholarships and institutional programs. Duties include but not limited to: overseeing the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive multi-channel fundraising program (phone, email, texting) including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, motivating and evaluating 30-35 student staff members; supervising evening calling shifts; preparing caller training materials; managing student supervisors; establishing calling schedules; utilizing computer calling software and managing call center; processing pledges and reminders for accuracy and ensuring they are mailed daily; acting as primary liaison with payroll office regarding all administrative and payroll issues for phonathon employees. May also assist with student philanthropy programs, young alumni and parent giving, electronic solicitations and stewardship activities. Position requires working 1 PM to 9 PM Sunday through Thursday during the academic year.


Required qualifications: bachelor's degree.

Preferred: past supervisory experience; experience working with college-age students; experience with interviewing, hiring and training; prior fundraising experience; familiarity with phonathon software or similar automated calling system; demonstrated written communication and presentation skills; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
