Summary: This is a multifaceted position centered on the shared responsibility of the development and advancement of identified athletes in the sport of Paralympic Powerlifting as well as growth of the sport in the United States.

Powerlifting made its debut as a medal sport at the second Paralympic Games in 1964, this sport is one of the fastest growing Paralympic sports in the world. As a partner with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) since January 1, 2018, Logan University serves as the High-Performance Management Organization (HPMO) for the sport of Para Powerlifting the United States. The US Paralympic Powerlifting Head Coach will assist the High-Performance Manager in the development and execution of all High-Performance intiatives as well as work with the Executive Director of Paralympic Operations to maintain the contractual obligations set forth between Logan University and the USOPC related to the coordination of the operation of the sports coaches and athletes.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports to US Paralympic Powerlifting High-Performance Manager
  • Responsible for the development of National standards for the following divisions of the sport of Paralympic Powerlifing in the United States
    • Juniors
    • Open
    • Masters
    • Miliatry
  • Responsible for all forms of data analysis as assigned by the High-Performance Manager as it pertains to athlete development and performance.
  • Repsonible for the coordination of all athlete for the sport of Paralympic Powerlifting in the United States (identified “A”, “B” and “C”) in person athlete training sessions
  • Responsible for all athlete performance analysis (included but not limited to vido analysis, virtual and in-perons training “pop in” session
  • Responsible for executiend consistant athlete and coach communication via various communication outlets (included but not limited to social media, email, and phone)
  • Will serve as immediate supervior for desginated all coaches and trainers. This include the designated sport performance nuttinoal coach.
  • Assit the High-Performance Manager in the identification and recruitment of athlete and coaching talent identification and recurityument specific to the sport of Paralympic Powerlifitng in the United States
  • Assit the High-Performance Manager in the coordination and teaching sanctioned Level 1 and Level 2 athelte and coach clinics for rhe sport of Paralympic Powerlifing in the United States
  • The Head Coach will be expected to be present at and assit with domestic and international compeititon as directed by the High-Performance Manager
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a bacholer’s degree in related field
  • The minimum of the follow certifications
    • Personal training and/or strength and conditioning certification
    • Must maintain personal insurance and be able to show proof of insurance
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience working with the sport Paralympic Powerlifting in the United States and/or at the international level
  • Minimum of two (2) World Championships and/or Paralympic Games in the role of Coach and/or Team leader
  • Must agree to and pass a background check
  • Maintain US Center of SafeSport training
