The VCUarts Department of Craft/Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions to teach sections of beginning, intermediate, and/or advanced courses in the areas of clay, glass, metal, fiber, and/or wood. Candidates must be able to demonstrate awareness and sensitivity towards promoting an inclusive and diverse learning environment, knowledge of field of specialization, particularly in technical proficiency; knowledge of or experience in implementing a variety of teaching strategies; ability to teach effectively at the college level. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of two courses or nine credits maximum per semester.
Should funding for such adjunct teaching positions become available, the Department of Craft/Material Studies will contact persons in the pool whose credentials match our teaching needs. This pool will be accessed only when an opening arises. Your credentials will remain active for one year after the date you submit them. After one year, if you are still interested in adjunct teaching, you must re-apply to this adjunct pool. Note that we are unable to hire applicants who are not already in the pool.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have a advanced degree in Fine Art or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in Fine Arts is preferred. Expertise in area of teaching specialization is highly desirable. Active exhibition record and previous teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
